How It Works

How it Works as a Restaurant

Taste of DC is designed to showcase the District’s best restaurants by putting them all in one place for Washingtonians to feast. Restaurants are asked to sell small samples of their dishes. Guests of the event pay for the dishes using “taste tickets.” Each participating restaurant is required to have at least one “Taste of” dish that is 4 tickets or less. At the end of the day, each restaurant redeems their tickets for USD with Taste of DC. For more information please fill out the 2012 Interest Form.

How it Works as an Event Attendee

As a guest at Taste of DC you will be able to taste dishes from more than 60 of DC’s best restaurants all in one place – America’s Main Street, Pennsylvania Avenue. All you have to do is get tickets (available for pre-sale in September or at the event – 12 for $10) and pick the restaurants you want to taste. By the time pre-sale of tickets starts, all of the restaurant menus will be online so you can figure out where you’d like to eat at before the event. All restaurants are required to have at least one “Taste of” dish for four tickets or less. Once you choose which menu item you think will please your palate, just hand the appropriate amount of tickets over to the restaurant. Enjoy!

Taste of DC has multiple performing stages to display the talents of our Washingtonians and others from around the region. Last year we had a family stage with family themed programming, three musical stages and one stage with culinary demonstrations. If you put on an amazing show and would like to perform at one of DC’s most anticipated events, then fill out the form to your left and someone from our team will get in contact with you.

Performance Stages

In 2011, Taste of DC hosted over 50 live performances on 5 different stages. The Main Stage is located on Pennsylvania Avenue with the Capitol as its backdrop. Last year’s Main Stage highlights included country favorites Big & Rich, Rock ‘n’ Roll legend Styx, and the World Chili Eating Championship Presented by Ben’s Chili Bowl.

The Main Stage wasn’t the only stage with incredible programming. The Family Stage is a great place to take a break from the District’s best dishes and enjoy live performances, games, and family fun. Last year’s performances included Rocknocerous, The Great Zucchini, and Hope Harris and the Cousins Jamboree. Kids enjoyed participation in Cupcake Walks, meeting Miss District of Columbia, and playing basketball with the Washington Wizards cheerleaders.

For the foodie in all of us, Taste of DC brought the chef’s table to Pennsylvania Avenue. The Culinary Stage hosted chef demonstrations by some of DC’s best chefs created their signature dishes. The audience was able to learn tricks of the trade, new recipes, and be entertained by the men and women behind the most acclaimed restaurants the city has to offer.

Craft Beer Pavilion

The Craft Beer Pavilion is your one-stop shop for everything with barley and hops. Come in and enjoy samples of craft beers from down the street and around the world. If you want to learn a little about the brewing process, listen and talk to some of the brewmasters that make your favorite beers. Last year’s Craft Beer Pavilion hosted dozens of beers, and this year is slated to be bigger and better. Feel free to grab a full pour of your favorite brew, kick back, and enjoy live music with your friends.
