The Fishermen Band

DC natives Lindsay and Phillip ÒFlipÓ Hough started haunting area music venues in the mid 90’s, starting The Fishermen Band officially in 1999. Since, TFB has built an impressive resume, touring nationally and regionally, supporting notable bands including Maroon 5, Jimmie’s Chicken Shack, John Popper of Blues Traveller, The Grooveline Horns (of Jason Mraz), Raining Jane, Allrise, Pseudopod,New Riders of the Purple Sage, Egypt,DJ Rapid Rick, 3rd Eye Blind, and The Charlie Daniels Band, just to name a few! A DC music mainstay for 17 years, The Fishermen Band has built a large cult following by only releasing short-run collectible CD’s at their shows, in favor of releasing any music to the internet (outside of 2009’s ÒVisionÓ). If you have a Fishermen Band album, chances are you were there (somewhere local) and got one from the band directly. And, chances are, that CD has the date of the show, the name of the venue, and the number of CD’s printed for that occasion. Multiply that by 16 years at an average of 140 shows per year, and you begin to understand the draw. TFB’s selling point is that there’s something for everyone; Reggae, Folk, Rock, Funk, Jazz, even A Capella Barbershop(the band has four singers that sing perfect harmony and backing vocals). Adding the talents of Drummer Chris Compton, Bassist Brian Waitzman, and Grammy Nominated Keyboardist Andre Leonard has made the music of The Fishermen Band a fun, polished, and unforgettable live show experience!

The Piranhas

It’s not uncommon to hear members of the audience saying something like this after they have just seen The Piranhas live. Energetic, passionate and seriously engaging, each frontman adds their flavor to the show: Mike channels Jim Morrison and Dave Grohl, Dylan pulls from Stevie Ray Vaughn, Eminem and Angus Young. Their very eclectic performing styles each member adds is complimented by an even more diverse set list , slinging everything from Gun’s and Roses to The Killers to The Jackson 5 and Bel Biv Devoe, time and time again this band has delivered to an enormous demographic of very satisfied audiences. Winners of the annual Southern Maryland Phoenix Awards for “Best Performance”, out of state audiences are rapidly finding out why. The Piranhas have been trailblazing all the way from DC and Virginia to New Jersey and New York and lighting up the Eastern Seaboard faster than those unpredictable polar vortexes. What’s that? You want to see a show, too? Check out our show schedule and come out, we’ll be waiting for you.

Turtle Recall
